How we started, what we believe

Interior of Emmanuel Fellowship Church in Loxwood, where Sunday services take place.

How we started

Emmanuel Fellowship began with a small group of people who met at Kelsey Hall in Ifold around 40 years ago. As the group grew it moved to the chapel in Spy Lane, Loxwood, where we still meet each Sunday at 10.30am.

The fellowship gained charity status in 2024 and is now officially Emmanuel Church Loxwood. We continue to be a fellowship of people who love Jesus and each other and serve God together.

We believe that we are just a small part of the Body of Christ and seek to work together with other local churches.

What we believe

  • The Bible is the inspired Word of God and our authority in matters of faith and Christian life.

  • God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the one true God and Creator of heaven and earth.

  • Jesus Christ is the Son of God and Head of the Church. Through His death on the cross and bodily resurrection, we can receive forgiveness, redemption and eternal life.

  • Sin separates us from God, but through faith in Jesus Christ we can be reconciled to Him and receive new life.

  • The Holy Spirit lives and works in believers today, empowering us for Christian life, service and spiritual gifts.

  • The Church is the body of believers who have repented of their sin, put their faith in Jesus Christ and acknowledged Him as Lord and Saviour. We believe in baptism by full immersion and in the Lord’s Supper as an act of communion and remembrance.

  • Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly as Lord, and we look forward to His coming.
